Property Slump in Salcombe?

As one of the comments on my last post points out, Salcombe has lost a Estate Agent!! It appears very few houses are changing hands in Salcombe. I'll see if I can get some figures and post them.

Amazingly the old Fulfords (sorry it's Ireland Weller not Fulfords, see comments) Salcombe office is yet ANOTHER clothes shop. Salcombe may be quiet property wise but there is an awful lot of wealth in the town and visiting the town. Is there any other small town with so many expensive designer leisure wear shops?

I think you will find Fulfords were across the road where Chattels is. I used to go to the barber where Ireland Weller were ... actually Ireland Weller originated from Page and Chant, who used to be in the shop now vacated by Blue...

I remember Page and Chant, they were opposite the Salocmbe Hotel for a while, next door to Quba weren't they? My dad used to do their accounts!

I'm abroad at the moment so havent actually seen the new shop, is it not Fulfords that have closed their office?

Fulfords left Salcombe a long time ago.- it is Ireland Weller who have closed this time.Salcombe will find that it is more affected by the current property downturn than most places - look for some bargains in 6 monhs time

aaah cors yes....didnt realise Fulfords had left, I missed that...

Salcombe continues to amaze...a shop selling drift wood as lamps survives and a estate agent doesnt??

The way to make a decent living in Salcombe now is to sell ice cream, jackets made from old sails, pink and blue rugby jerseys, or flimsy stuff for girlies!! Better still be a builder, or run a boat servicing business then you can really rip the second home owners off! Unfortunately market forces dictate what sells, hence all the clothes shops. Nice to have a grocer or a proper fish shop instead but this is not now viable in a town which is getting more like a Disney set by the day!

Not sure about sellng ice cream- become a holiday home cleaner - push the dust around, earn more than anyone else in Salcombe - including the house owner....
