I picked up this news last night. I am not aware who the new owners are or what their plans are but presumably having paid c£11m for it the previous owners plans will be unviable as they were costed at £40m!
Originally being punted about at £4m it appears that a few interested parties pushed the price up.
As soon as I know more I will let you know...

Ah - now I heard that as well.........the chap I was talking too said they planned to demolish and build flats??!!??
As a business decision a very good idea!
Unfortunately I ran 7 million pounds short so its back to the ghetto at the top of Salcombe with me.
Now then - looking at this the Marine is STILL on the market........... spare 10 million anyone??

Doesn't £10 million seem cheap? Look at it in relation to other properties...£3m for the Anchor Wtach Apartment....etc...
According to Property company Colliers Cre on 27th November, They have sold the Marine Hotel subject to contract. Should start to see signs of things happening there soon I hope. Can't wait for it to re-open. The South Sands Hotel and The Tides Reach Hotel are ok but they ars not in Salcombe are they.
you forgot the sunny cliff in that list
Yes but the Sunnycliff is not a hotel now but self catering appartments. Still no hotel in Salcombe town.
the sunnycliff dose still offer just rooms
Has anyone heard any more on this? when it will be opening again? Who has it?!

I live in Christchurch and the company "Harbour Hotels Group" also own our local hotel. It was named the Avonmouth Hotel but is now called "Christchurch Harbour Hotel" It includes a Gary Rhodes restaurant. The hotel has been renovated to a very high standard so hopefulyy they will do a good job with the Marine Hotel.
Cant wait to stay there again.
Look at www.salcombe-harbour-hotel.co.uk for the new web site for the Marine hotel
