Quba - A Great Salcombe Business!

Quba Sails Owners, James and Will
Salcombe's very own Quba Sails had a decent spread in todays Telegraph. Quba has been a real success story. Started over 10 years ago by James Hartley they have grown to a decent size and recently secured further venture capital funds to enable expansion.

It may be a very expensive brand way beyond the reach of many Salcombe residents but compared to other Salcombe based clothes companies Quba is a REAL local business, the flagship store is on Fore Street and the factory is in Churchstow on the outskirts of Kingsbridge.

A local business employing local people with a bright future, just what Sacombe needs.

Anyone want to join me in a new business using old burgees to make hats? Thinking of selling these under the "hatbur" brand at £19.99 each.Going to set up shop in Fore St.

The flag that sits at the top of a mast to show you the wind drection....it seems that OOKevin is somewhat jealous of Quba's success...

Great idea OOkevin! How about making gloves from old wetsuits as well. Could be sold to Eskimos for keeping the snow off their hands!Reckon at £9.99 a pair you could be on to a couple of winners. Well done to Quba... great to see local entrepreneurs do well... pity a few more locals don't try harder?

Nothing worth having is easy said...

I so glad they've done so well. I had to laugh at the gibe ' compared to other Salcombe based clothes companies Quba is a REAL local business'. But i have to agree.
Is anyone else outraged (well, at lest at little annoyed) by a certain J. Wills use of the Salcombe name to try and gain ‘prestige' quite pathetic. I recently saw in their new ‘handbook’ a list of the top ten things to do in Salcombe which include ‘blag a free ferry ride across the estuary!’ NICE
