Hope the new job goes well - is it in property valuation? The Marine is said to be closing and being redeveloped in Autumn 2009. An open meeting was held for any interested parties a few weeks ago and the proposals explained together with a model.Very mixed reaction. No planning application has yet been made and this will take ages what with the key position and sensitivity of the site. As suspected the development hinges on 20(?) holiday homes being built, the proceeds of which will fund the new hotel, which provides a lot of employment locally, both directly and indirectly. There is a sort of inevitability about this, bearing in mind the existing state of the place and its economics and employment in Salcombe. How though is this major demolition and reconstruction going to take place with the narrow roads adjacent? Even barging the spoil and building materials in and out looks pretty difficult.
September 2009 anticipated?
Initial ideas are on the hotel website.
